I am extremely excited, proud and grateful to officially announce the new partnership between Within Our Walls and Beyond and the Centre des arts (Arts Center) of the International School of Geneva where my travelling exhibition, Within My Walls and Beyond, will be exhibited, November 14 - 19, 2016 in partnership with the Festival Les Créatives.

"To encourage children in our Western society to critically reflect on the role of women in art and culture, as well as the gaps and barriers that surround us to this day, we invite students to visit Undine Groeger’s photo exhibition, Within My Walls and Beyond, which provides a concrete outlook on these issues while inviting visitors to reflect on the walls they face personally and within themselves.

In a time when borders are being broken and rebuilt, understanding the goals and consequences of the fall of the Berlin Wall on our society allows us to critically reflect on the future we are creating for our children, not only in terms of sustainable development or economics but also openness and social harmony.

Walls today are not only made of concrete or solid materials, but can also be felt in our words, our prejudices, our cultures, or even our personal experiences. How do we tame and overcome these walls?

Within the International School of Geneva, the Arts Centre serves an educational and public purpose and is resolutely turned towards a holistic approach to education in order to develop emotionally intelligent, creative, and confident adults. That is why we are thrilled to welcome this travelling photo exhibition, Within My Walls and Beyond, from November 14th to 20th in this cultural building that is dedicated to art and education, and in honour of Geneva’s Festival les Créatives."

"Afin de permettre aux jeunes de notre société occidentale une réflexion plus approfondie sur la situation de la femme dans les réseaux artistiques et culturelles, et la volonté de réfléchir aux multiples fossés ou barrières qui nous entourent encore aujourd’hui, l’exposition photographique d’Undine Groeger « Au-delà de mes murs » donne un regard concret sur ces réalités mais également une introspective sur nos murs intérieurs et nos frontières personnelles.

Dans une époque où les frontières se brisent et se reconstruisent, la compréhension de la chute du Mur de Berlin, son but et les conséquences sur notre société permettent une réflexion critique sur l’avenir que nous construisons pour nos enfants, tant en terme de développement durable ou économique mais également d’ouverture d’esprit ou de générosité sociale. 

Les murs d’aujourd’hui ne sont pas uniquement fait de béton ou de matériaux solides, mais se ressentent dans nos discours, nos « à-prioris », nos cultures ou encore ressentis personnels. Comment apprivoiser ces murs, les surmonter, les adopter?

Dans l’enceinte de l’Ecole Internationale de Genève, le Centre des arts et sa double vocation scolaire et publique se veut résolument tourné vers une approche globale de l’éducation pour développer des adultes émotionnellement intelligents, créatifs et confiants. C’est pourquoi nous sommes ravis d’accueillir cette exposition « Au-delà de mes murs » du 14 au 20 novembre 2016 dans ce bâtiment culturel dédié aux arts et à l’éducation, à l’occasion du Festival Les Créatives de Genève."
